Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a wait list to receive a funded IVF Cycle?
Yes. We currently have a wait list for this program. We are hopeful that with additional funding, more patients will be able to proceed with a funded IVF cycle when they are ready without a substantial wait.
How do I get started with a funded IVF cycle or get added onto the waitlist?
To proceed with funding or be added to the waitlist, schedule a consultation with a physician at Hannam Fertility Centre. If you meet the criteria, we will add you to the list. Click here to book a consultation.
What is not covered by the Ontario Funding Program?
Although funding covers much of the cost of IVF, including the cycle monitoring, the retrieval, and majority of laboratory services, some expenses are not covered. The cost of medications, additional testing (including genetic testing), and storage and shipping fees are not covered by this program. We recommend checking to see if these additional expenses are covered through your private health plan, as many plans include fertility care which can cover or offset these costs.
I'm not ready to have a baby now but would like to freeze my eggs for a future pregnancy. Would this be covered by the program?
Unfortunately not. Funding for IVF-related fertility preservation services like egg freezing is only offered for select medical reasons, such as requiring chemotherapy for breast cancer treatment.
How many IVF cycles can be funded by the government of Ontario?
The government of Ontario provides funding for one IVF cycle per eligible person.
